Dalaguete
The highest point on Cebu, on a ridge of limestone hills above Dalaguete
At just over a thousand metres, Osmeña Peak is the highest ground on Cebu island. The summit sits in a field of sharp limestone cones that run away in every direction — the formation people compare to Bohol's Chocolate Hills, though these are steeper and closer together.
The walk up from Mantalongon takes about twenty minutes and is not technical. On a clear morning you can see Negros across the strait to the west and the sea on both sides of the island.
Mantalongon below is Cebu's vegetable-growing centre, and the market there runs before dawn.
Bus from Cebu South Bus Terminal to Dalaguete town, then a habal-habal or jeepney up to Mantalongon, and about twenty minutes on foot from the trailhead.
